The daughter of a village publican, who is entered in a beauty contest, goes to bed having taken a sedative. She wakes up in the night to hear noises and goes to her window. After seeing a bright blue light, and seeing all the other villagers being led into vans by people dressed in protective suits, she passes out. When she wakes up, the whole village is deserted.
